Wedding Wednesday – Cruelty Free & Eco Friendly Wedding Favours

Wedding Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Everyone,

I hope you are all well today. I have (almost) most of my stuff together (finally). Still haven’t actually ordered the invitations just yet, but I am pretty sure I know exactly what we will be ordering, as with everything I just got delayed.

This week on Wedding Wednesday, I wanted to focus on what we give back to our guests to thank them ….as if a meal wasn’t enough huh 😀 . The reason I wanted to zone in on this is because as it is, a huge amount of waste goes into a wedding and depending on what your wedding favours are it could be an extra amount of unnecessary waste.

A lot of people have actually stopped doing wedding favours and I can understand why, I have a few ideas in mind of what I would like to do as a wedding favour (if we do them) and it is only due to the fact that I can see how beautiful wedding favours can be done, zero waste style 😎

Cruelty Free & Eco Friendly Wedding Favour Ideas

Plants to Take Home

Plants act as a great gift for your guests to take home as they are a beautiful reminder of your big day for your guests. If you would like to go that extra mile place the plants into glass jars to be extra eco friendly. Succulent plants are also great as they are hard to let day and do not require that much watering.

Beauty Gifts

This is something that if done correctly, could save you a lot of money and also get you some great brownie points with your guests when their skin starts to glow from using it. Obviously each of these can be bought to save you some hassle, it will work out more expensive, but by making them yourself, you will cut down on costs and you know exactly what is going into them and you have full control over how they are preserved and what they go into (less waste). I speak from experience when I say some of these are definitely not that difficult to do. I have made the mint scrub a few times myself and it left my skin glowing.

Tea Party

Everyone likes tea. We that’s not true, not everyone does, I don’t even really like tea, but I can appreciate the beauty and effort that went into these wedding favours. It works out as a great idea, as it can be done cheaply using recycled materials like glass jars and pop your favourite loose tea in. You can even mix it up and put different teas that you think would suit different people. Click into the pictures above for the links.

Love Potions

“What the hell is a ‘Love Potion’, Saoirse” you may ask?? Well after some research a ‘Love Potion’ can be one of two things. It can be a mini cocktail, like a really really mini cocktail, ok more like a shot of your favourite drink that you and all your guests can use to toast together at the end of the night or it can be a little snippet of your favourite homemade brew – alcoholic or non alcholic.

Plant A Tree

This may not be something everyone can do … like me who writes this while living in an apartment. but it is something that those who can do might love to see and show you every time you come around to their home. It is also something that will only add to the environment, not take away from it.

Food Favours

Ok who doesn’t love food?? I know I do and I know if I was given food as something to take home, I would be more than happy. There are multiple food favour options you can give out to your guests, you can use some of the above pictures as inspiration or find something with a quick Google. I was thinking about maybe finding THE most amazing olive oil and possibly giving that out as a wedding favour, I mean like it literally goes with anything and everything.

So there you have it. I hope this has been of some use to you. What you need to do is think about what you would like to give and how you would like to present it.

The Best Presentation Materials Are

  • Glass Jars
  • Steel Containers
  • Recycled Paper
  • Cloth or scarfs that the gifts can be wrapped in

But once you have an idea you can definitely bring it to life cruelty free & eco friendly style and most of the time it will work out more cost effective by doing so.

Have you previously had any experience with wedding favours such as the ones above? What did you think? Please let me know your thoughts as I would love some ideas for my own wedding.

x

Saoirse
