As some of you may know, Oisín proposed to me last summer 🙂 One of the best moments ever and I have never seen him more nervous, idiot should of known I would of said yes!!! Anyway apart from booking a venue, we have literally done NOTHING else!!!!!! So the next few weeks I am going to be in wedding mode. I was for a while and then I said as it was almost a year away and to calm my sh!t…… Well, some could say I became a bit too calm, because fast forward to today and the wedding is literally just under 5 months away, so it’s time to get organising.
What Is Wedding Wednesday???
But from the (measly) bit of research I have done so far, weddings, as with anything can be done without leaving a huge dark footprint on the environment. So you know me, I am all for that. But a ‘green’ wedding – no, not the colour, but rather the environmental & eco friendly kind of green, isn’t something that seems to come up when reading the magazines or looking online. So I have decided to start a new part to my website called ‘Wedding Wednesday’ to discuss and give some light and inspiration to choices that may not have been given and that may not be standard, but will certainly treat the world well – wedding karma anyone?
Topics Of Discussion
Some of the posts I will discuss in ‘Wedding Wednesday’ will consist of ……
- Bridal Dress
- Mens Suits
- Hair & Make Up
- Venue Tips
- Decoré
- Flowers
- Decorations
- Rings
The list goes on. Hopefully it will appeal to both the bride and groom, bridesmaids and grooms men, guests, parents and heck even flower girls. I will also have guest interviews and writers to shed some light on certain things.

Environmental Wedding Facts
- The average wedding produces 400-600lbs of waste & 66tones of C02.
- In just one day, a wedding can produce the equivalent emissions that 4-5 people would in a year.
- Roughly, weddings in Ireland last year would of brought in about €564,788,000. Which is shocking!*
So starting from next Wednesday, stop by if your would like some eco friendly wedding tips 🙂
Hi Saoirse,
Good topic and one I’ll be following and hopefully contributing to, my daughter got engaged at Xmas so I’m in mother of the bride mode!
Can I ask what venue you chose ? As this is our topic of conversation at the moment and I’m encouraging detail, personal touches and lovely outdoor venues against grandeur!

Hey Tracey, that’s amazing news! Congratulations, if you would like to send me an email to irishmountainchild@gmail.com I can forward you the venue we are going with and also some others we viewed. One place in particular I would like to mention is ‘Cliff Lyons Estate’, we found the staff to be the friendliest and most helpful, the location and venue are beautiful and the team were very helpful if we had any particular requirements like diet etc.
But if you email me at the above address I can definitely forward you on some details 🙂
